Oceanside Realty Steps Up Charitable Donations

The Wildwoods – Oceanside Realty, with offices in Wildwood Crest and North Wildwood, has increased the number of charitable contributions it makes to local organizations as the Wildwoods' leading real estate firm has expanded its business.

Since 2002, when Oceanside Realty began its Blanket of Hope Drive that provides slightly used blankets and bedspreads to the less fortunate in the county, Oceanside Realty has significantly augmented its charitable giving in the community and boosted the dollar amount of its donations. In addition to Blankets of Hope, Oceanside contributes to Greater Wildwood Little League as a T-ball team sponsor and donates signage to the organization.

For 2004, Oceanside Realty began what it intends to become a holiday tradition. Rather than holding a company-wide pollyanna, Oceanside employees donate the money they would spend on those gifts for co-workers toward the purchase of gifts grocery gift certificates for two local families. The name of a local family is obtained from Crest Memorial School in Wildwood Crest and from Margaret Mace School in North Wildwood, and those families are able to enjoy a wonderful Christmas bounty, compliments of Oceanside Realty and its employees.

Oceanside Realty provides the use of its moving van to Cub Scout Pack 58 and the Baysea District Boy Scouts of America for a variety of activities and events.

A monetary donation, along with staff support and use of the Oceanside Realty moving van, is also contributed to the annual auction and dinner event held by the Cape May County Special Services School District Education Fund. Oceanside Realty also recently made a financial contribution to Cape Assist, which opened a new office in Wildwood in 2004. Additionally, the Oceanside Team donates hot chocolate and staffs the hot chocolate table at the annual Polar Plunge for Andrew held every March to benefit the Andrew Alameno Scholarship Fund.

Oceanside Realty also donates funds to the annual September Splash held by the Wildwood Crest Dolphins Swim Team and provides funding to purchase flags and volunteers to place flags throughout Wildwood Crest in an annual observance marking the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in the United States.

Paul Chiolo, owner/broker of Oceanside Realty, said that his business' expansion in the amount of giving is a natural consequence of Oceanside's success. “We value the local community and know that the positive events and organizations we support have a positive impact on all of us,” Chiolo explained. Chiolo also noted that Oceanside's nearly two-dozen employees – all living in or near the Wildwoods – are integral parts of the community through their professional and personal involvement with local organizations.

Chiolo is also a volunteer member of the Cape May County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, where he lends his time and expertise to improving the economic vitality of Cape May County.

Blanket of Hope Drive.

Used and unwanted blankets from area motels, hotels and condominiums were collected by Oceanside Realty in fall 2004 and then donated to local charitable organizations for use by those in need as part of Oceanside's Blanket of Hope Drive.

Blankets and bedspreads that are often thrown out in the trash by motel owners who no longer have a use for them are a valuable commodity for the less fortunate, according to Realtor Paul Chiolo, president of Oceanside Realty. United Way of Cape May County continually distributes used blankets to the less fortunate through its member agencies and animal welfare groups have a great demand for the items for use by stray and unwanted pets.

Since Oceanside's Blanket of Hope Drive began in 2002, thousands of “slightly used” blankets and bedspreads have been distributed to those who can use them.

July 28, 2004 - Oceanside Realty Donates Van as Part of Cub Scout Week

Oceanside Realty donated use of its moving van to area Cub Scouts during a day camp in the month of July. Over 150 scouts from 16 packs from Cape May and Cumberland Counties enjoyed a week of outdoor activities at Belleplain State Park July 9-16,2004.

Organizer Bill Wasekanes describes the week of activities as a family program, featuring archery, games and safety programs. "Without the support of local businesses and donations like Oceanside's van, these programs might be so costly that we couldn't do as much," said Mr. Wasekanes. Oceanside Realty is happy to offer the use of its modern and spacious moving van to non-profit organizations and charitable events in the Cape May County area.
